2 DAY WORKSHOP

(ONLY 1 PLACE LEFT)

22 & 23 October, 2022.  10am – 4pm daily.

This 2 Day Mixed Medium Workshop has been designed for artists wanting to discover the limitless possibilities of working with mixed medium. The workshop provides an opportunity to exercise your imagination and discover your own sense of curiosity and playfulness. You will be guided through the process of layering modelling compounds and paper products to build a 3 dimensional textural substrate on which you will paint. Once dry, you will then build colour through the layering of translucent and opaque acrylic ink and paint, incorporate the use of pencils, stencils, collage and other fibrous elements to enhance your design and bring your artwork to life.

MATERIALS

Most art materials will be provided for your workshop, however you will need to bring a canvas on which to paint and a jar of modelling paste. You’ll need no more than 500mls.

You will be supplied with acrylic paint, inks, brushes, apron, scissors, ruler, pencils, pva glue and textural paper/card to collage. You are welcome to bring your own acrylic paints and/or brushes if you wish.

You can purchase a stretched canvas from the Merimbula Newsagency in Market Street, Merimbula or bring your own from home. It doesn’t need to be a new unused primed canvas, so you are welcome to paint over the top of an old acrylic painting. Please prime the old canvas with 2 or 3 coats of white gesso before coming to the workshop.

You can choose to paint on a primed thin or thick edge canvas – is up to you. The thick edge will cost more than a thin edge. Any brand is fine. Select a canvas which is approximately 12 x 24 inches (30 x 60 cms). Price of a stretched canvas will start from about $10 depending on the size, thickness and brand.

If you are unsure about purchasing the canvas required for this workshop or do not have access to an art store then please let me know as I am happy to purchase a canvas for your class. Please let me know at least one week before the workshop and I will let you know what the cost will be.
